Our story

A Peruvian brand
with a Berlin heart.

We are Qaras — a small Peruvian brand based in Berlin, dedicated to slow fashion. We craft timeless pieces using natural fibres and recycled materials, working closely with skilled artisans in Cusco who have inherited their craft over generations.

Each piece carries the warmth of the Andes and the rhythm of the hand that knitted it.

We don't do collections every season. We make small batches, by hand, with care. When you wear Qaras, you carry a piece of Peru with you — and you support the families who created it.

Why Qaras

Slow fashion, done right.

Baby Alpaca

Softer than cashmere. Warmer than merino. Hypoallergenic and naturally water-resistant. Sourced from Peruvian highland farms.

Made by hand

Every sweater takes 2 to 3 days to knit. By skilled artisans in Cusco. No machines, no shortcuts, no compromises.

Fair pay

We pay our makers a fair price — not the lowest one. That's why we don't do flash sales, and that's why our pieces last.

The fibre

Why baby alpaca?

Baby alpaca isn't the wool of baby animals — it's the first shearing of an alpaca, the softest fibre it will ever produce. Ours comes from highland farms in the Peruvian Andes, where alpacas live freely at over 4000 metres. The fibre is naturally thermo-regulating: warm in winter, breathable in summer. It doesn't itch. It doesn't pill. And with care, it lasts for decades.

Common questions

Things people often ask.

Couldn't find your answer? Just write us at qarasworldbrand@gmail.com — we usually reply within a day.

How is baby alpaca different from regular wool?

Baby alpaca is the first shearing of an alpaca and is the softest, finest fibre it produces. It's warmer than merino wool, hypoallergenic (no lanolin), naturally water-resistant, and doesn't itch like sheep wool. It also lasts longer with proper care.

How should I care for my Qaras piece?

Hand-wash in cold water with a mild detergent (we recommend a wool wash). Don't wring — gently press out the water. Lay flat to dry on a towel. Never tumble dry. Stored folded, not hanging.

How does shipping work?

We ship worldwide from Berlin. EU shipping takes 3–5 working days, USA and Canada 7–10 days, rest of the world 10–14 days. Tracking is included on every order.

What's your return policy?

You can return any unworn piece within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. The return shipping cost is on us within the EU; outside the EU, it's the customer's responsibility.

Do your pieces run true to size?

Our sweaters and vests have a slightly relaxed, oversized fit. If you're between sizes, we recommend going down one. A detailed size guide is on each product page.

Where exactly are the pieces made?

Every piece is hand-knitted in workshops in and around Cusco, in the Peruvian Andes. We work directly with the artisans — no middlemen, no factories.

Do you offer customisation?

Not yet — but we're open to it. If you have a specific colour combination or pattern in mind, write us. We may be able to make it.
